Teaching Philosophy
As an artist and teacher, my goal is to create a classroom where students feel comfortable, respected, and valued in expressing their ideas. My teaching philosophy centers around creative inquiry, where students are encouraged to think critically and immerse themselves fully in their artistic practice. In the art classroom, students are encouraged to draw from various areas whether it’s biology, history or music. I believe that blending elements of multiple subjects fosters critical thinking and allows students to create meaningful artwork.

The foundation of my teaching philosophy is built on creative inquiry, student empowerment, and interdisciplinary exploration.
Lino print unit of learning
This unit of learning explores the intersection of art, science, and environmental awareness through the creation of a "mutated fish" that can survive in polluted oceans. The subject matter encourages students to reflect on the devastating effects of ocean pollution while using their imagination to design a fish adapted to these harsh conditions.

Textile unit of learning
This unit of learning focuses on sustainability and the importance of insects to the ecosystem, as part of a Green Schools initiative. Students will re purpose old, unwanted clothes to create textile-based insect sculptures, emphasizing the need to recycle and reduce waste. Through this project, they will not only explore creative design but also gain a deeper understanding of how insects contribute to the balance of our natural world.
The subject matter is insects. A key aspect of the project is that students will combine elements from two different insects to create their own mutant insect. This blending of insect traits encourages creativity and problem-solving, as students think about how different features can come together to form something new and unique.
Students will also focus on color schemes and textures, with an emphasis on reusing embellished or textured garments to reflect the qualities of the insects.
